Scarves: What size should you choose? This blog post explores the many possibilities.

The size of a scarf shapes how it is worn, seen, and remembered. There are of course many possibilities: Do you want a bandana, 22” x 22” or a classic Hermès, 36” x 36” Or something in between? A twilly? A rectangular size? There is no correct answer. It all depends on what best fits your ideas and goals as well as your budget. Below are a few examples of different sizes. Remember, we can create any size scarf. Just ask.

Pocket Square

The standard pocket square size is 12” x 12, though you often see larger sizes, such as 14” x 14” or even 15” x 15”

Twilly

The standard size twilly is 2.5” x 36”. Though we often produces twillies that are 2” wide and 34” long, for example.

Bandana

The classic bandana size is 22” x 22”. The one below we produced in cotton for Doyle Auctions.

Medium size scarf

A standard medium size scarf is 26” x 26”.

We made the below silk scarf for Spelman College

The classic Hermès

The most common scarf size is probably the iconic Hermès, 36” x 36”

We made the below silk scarf for the Woodmere Art Museum, Philadelphia, PA.

Rectangular Scarf

There is no standard rectangular size scarf.

We created the below polyester chiffon scarf for a women’s leadership conference.

It is 18” x 60”. In other words, fairly large.

Rectangular Scarf

This is a 12” x 44”, silk scarf, printed on one side.

Shawl

We made this 28” x 70” shawl in a very thin, soft, wool for a private label in North Carolina
